I write a lot of creative person's biographies. Concluding week, three artists who asked me to write i for them described themselves as "Self-Taught" artists. Subsequently some word, we concluded they really aren't "Self-Taught" and we chose a more appropriate way to depict them and their fine art. In contempo years, I've noticed an increase in artists who refer to themselves equally "Cocky-Taught" without a full knowledge of the term.
